Downtown Mill Valley has many choices for the casual window shopper and also for an expert shopper who is there with a purpose. This beautiful town, surrounded by ancient groves of giant redwoods and rolling hills, sets a slower pace for a relaxed getaway. San Francisco may be across the Golden Gate Bridge, but in Mill Valley its busy streets and crowded freeways seem very far away. The downtown area in Mill Valley is on Throckmorton and Miller Avenues. The shops here cover a full range of upscale establishments and casual, small boutique and artisan stores. Mill Valley’s antique stores, fine arts and regional crafts shops, shops with handmade gifts, gourmet food and wine, and home furnishings are among the best in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

Whether you are looking for high fashion (you’ll find many choices) or in the mood for a casual browse, Mill Valley will not disappoint.

Jewelry

There are one-of-a-kind jewelry shops in Mill Valley where the pieces more resemble art than adornments with its exquisite craftsmanship and unique pairings of materials. Mill Valley’s tradition and history in art makes it a destination for both the creators and the buyers of fine jewelry. There are more than 20 shops where you can buy unique jewelry and hand-crafted works.

Gifts and Specialty Stores
Mill Valley has unique gift shops where you can find the perfect gift for a friend or loved one. Or even for yourself. These choices range from regional and local items or gifts from well-known brands. One place to visit is the family-run Tamalpais General Store where you can get necessities or an unusual, but cool item.

Clothing and Accessories
Clothing stores are a staple in any shopping area. Mill Valley has many clothing and accessory stores that offer fashions for diverse tastes. There are well-known chains such as Banana Republic and small boutiques with locally-made or imported items. Sienna Rose, Mint, Carolina Boutique and Allie-g are a few of the designer boutiques in the downtown area.

Strawberry Village Shopping Center

The Strawberry Village Shopping Center is on the other side of town across Highway 101. It has more than 50 stores and restaurants and is an inviting place to put up your feet and relax. You’ll find clothing, home décor, specialty stores selling stationery, chocolates, smoking products, cameras, and pet items. Service shops provide real estate, dry cleaning, mobile, and repair services. Financial institutions include Bank of America, First Republic Bank, Union Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, and Westamerica Bank.

A nice variety of restaurants serve up casual eats such as burgers and burritos and more expensive fare such as sushi.
